As you’ll know by now, we’ve kept ourselves busy with several projects during the pandemic and the lockdown periods, whether it’s been creating our ‘Corona Angels‘ and ‘Helping Hands‘ in aid of charities, designing and creating bespoke decorations for businesses and attractions or simply keeping on top of our Christmas preparations – we’ve found a way to keep going.
But something else we have been working on, which we are now really excited to share with you, is a new shape for our popular Heart decorations. Whilst the basic shape remains a Heart, of course, we have widened our design to make it 7x7cm so that the overall shape balances out and becomes a bit more rounded.
This new style of Hearts is available to purchase from the Webshop and Etsy shop now. There are lots of different designs to choose from and we offer FREE worldwide delivery.
They make the perfect gift all year round, but would also make a lovely addition to a Christmas gift for family and friends too, so make sure to check them out when starting your festive shopping!
We’ve spent the past few weeks designing another batch of fun and fabulous bespoke decorations for the lovely Liverpool Gift Gallery. We were so glad to hear how happy they were with the first designs we sent and couldn’t believe it when they asked us to design five more decorations for them!
Located in West Derby, a village on the outskirts of Liverpool, the Gift Gallery offers a wide range of artworks, gifts and all things Liverpool, alongside a framing service for local artists too.
The new designs include Abbey Road & the Beatles, the Mersey Dazzle Ferry and the Iron Men at Crosby.
All of these decorations are available to buy from the Liverpool Gift Gallery now. To see what other fabulous gifts and artwork they have available (it is nearing Christmas after all…) head to https://liverpoolgiftgallery.co.uk/

It’s not very often where we prepare more than one or two bespoke decorations at a time for just one outlet, but we’ve broken a new record with the Liverpool Gift Gallery who asked us to create a total of seven custom decorations just for them!
Located in West Derby village, just on the outskirts of Liverpool, the gift gallery offers a wide range of artworks and gifts, alongside a framing service for local artists too.
Designs included some of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks and tourist attractions, including The Liver Building, The Mersey Funnel and both Liverpool and Everton FC’s home-grounds.
All of these decorations are available to buy from the Liverpool Gift Gallery now. To see what other fabulous gifts and artwork they have for sale, head to https://liverpoolgiftgallery.co.uk/

With the UK starting to gain more normality and more attractions and shops opening up to the public again, we are being presented with more opportunities to get out and get exploring again.
For those in Somerset and neighbouring counties, one place to go is definitely Glastonbury Abbey! Having reopened its museum and café on July 4th, the Abbey is accessible by the public again with excellent Covid measures in place, including one-way systems and plenty of cleaning stations.
Here at Roelofs & Rubens, we are very excited to hear that more of Glastonbury Abbey and its amenities are open as it means that visitors will soon be able to treat themselves to one of our new bespoke decorations.
We’ve been working on the design and getting the decorations ready for the Abbey during lockdown and so are delighted to have finally been able to send them ready for visitors to buy.
If you are planning on visiting Glastonbury Abbey, you can book tickets here. It’s a great place to visit with not only the ruins to explore, but also the museum and their onsite café. (Plus, you can now head to the shop to grab your very own Glastonbury Abbey decoration!)

With businesses and visitor attractions slowly starting to open up again, we are have been excited to be able to start sending out some of the bespoke orders that we created during lockdown. The first of these has just been sent out to Tewkesbury Abbey, in Gloucestershire.
This beautiful building is known to be one of the finest examples of Norman architecture in Britain (which you can begin to see in our initial plans and drawings below) and it has been a centre of worship since the 7th century.
The Abbey has now reopened to the public but is on limited opening hours at present, so please make sure to check their website out before you go. They have excellent social distancing measures in place, to keep you and their staff as safe as possible at all times. Despite the fact that their main shop is closed, they have a pop-up version of their shop where you can still purchase a selection of their gifts and souvenirs.
June has been a great month for us here at Roelofs & Rubens. As you will have seen from our previous news posts, we have we been working hard on bespoke decorations and getting them to our new customers and we have even been getting our Christmas decorations ready… (we’ll be honest, it’s never too early when you are a small business like us!)
We were also very lucky to have been featured in our local newspaper, Newbury Today, with an article on our Corona Angels and the work we have been doing throughout lockdown. This was a great opportunity for us and we are always so grateful to receive more local exposure. You can read the full article here: https://www.newburytoday.co.uk/news/arts/29823/week-12-artists-join-our-gallery.html (just scroll down the page to our name and click ‘read more’
We have also been able to make another donation to NHS Charities Together thanks to the continued sales of our Corona Angels. This week we donated another £250, bringing our total donation so far to an amazing £500!
We still have some sales rolling in at the moment, and so we are hoping we can make another donation in July. So if you have yet to buy one for yourself or for a loved one who has helped you through the lockdown, you can still get them on our webshop here.
Despite the lockdown and usual team of staff not being here with us, we are still ploughing on and getting lots of work done. We have still had a number of bespoke orders to fulfil, as well as the fantastic number of orders that have been coming in through our online webshop too (thank you!).
Last week, had confirmation that delivery of our decorations was taken at Bournemouth Pier, ready for the hopeful return of summer trade.
We designed a bespoke hanging decoration for the Pier, which will hopefully be available to purchase this summer when the Pier shops begin to open again.
As work has continued here at Roelofs & Rubens, there have still been bespoke orders to design and finish for businesses and attractions around the UK. Judith Glue, in Kirkwall, Orkney, have just received their first batch of custom decorations from us.
Judith was born and bred in the Orkney Islands and is a knitwear designer as well as the owner of the Judith Glue shops and café, with outlets in both Orkney and Inverness.
Her largest shop is situated opposite the magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, a building originally founded by a Viking, that is steeped in both British and Norwegian history. Today, it is Britain’s most northerly cathedral and attracts visitors from around the world.
So it seemed fitting that Judith Glue should choose for their bespoke decoration to be of such a fantastic building.
The creation process for these decorations wasn’t quite as plain sailing as we would have hoped though…Right at the final stage we lost a large number of decorations due to a blow out in our kiln.
Thankfully we found out what was wrong and we able to get everything fixed before our next firing was due, but there was quite a mess to clear up and rather a lot of decorations to remake…oops!
The decorations are now safely with Judith in Kirkwall and are available to buy from her Orkney store, or online here. The Judith Glue Shop and the Real Food Café can be found at 25 Broad Street, Kirkwall, Orkney, KW15 1DH
We are very excited to announce that our first order of bespoke decorations to North Carolina has arrived at its destination!
Over the past month or so, we have been working closely with Kim and Tom McMurtry, the lovely owners of ‘Europa’: a gift shop in Black Mountain, NC, to create a bespoke decoration for their customers. The decoration is of the Montreat Gate, a stone monument close to the shop which stands at the entrance to the town of Montreat, NC.
The decorations have arrived safely and will be available to buy from Europa shortly, as they have recently reopened following a closure due to the Coronavirus and public safety. The shop trades in person and online at https://www.europafinegifts.com, so even if you don’t live nearby, you can still browse and buy from their fabulous collection of stock!
We’ve enjoyed working with Kim and Tom greatly and look forward to seeing our decorations on display in their shop, which specialises in handcrafted gifts from across both Europe and America.
Do you have someone you view as your ‘Corona Angel’? They might be someone working for the NHS, or someone who has gone above and beyond to help you and other people during the current Coronavirus pandemic. Maybe it is someone who has done your shopping when you couldn’t, or might simply be a loved one who keeps you sane in these crazy times.
No matter who they are, why not send your ‘Corona Angel’ one of our beautiful handmade decorations to say Thank You!
We have two different designs to choose from – with, or without, a face mask. Both Angels have ‘Thank You’ written on the back.
