Running a small family business is incredibly rewarding. The journey from idea to fruition, however, comes with it’s own hurdles and plenty of surprises! We discovered early on that you need discipline, planning, patience….and the ability to turn your hand to any task even if it’s not within your immediate skill set.
Building and designing our website is one of those tasks that we do ourselves with no real starting knowledge – no big budgets or award winning web specialists. Just the old fashion approach of learning on the job and maybe the help of an online tutorial video!
With the launch of our new site, we had fun looking back at 10+ years of Roelofs & Rubens website successes – and some failures! Our first site was launched on Dreamweaver and learning how to use this tool was an uphill struggle, even the welcome screen looked daunting.
Fast-forward 10 years and 6 websites and there is still a lot of learning on the job and giving it a go. Sometimes our first idea isn’t our best one so we go back and make changes. It’s all part and parcel of doing most things ourselves and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
